IZAKAYA | 炎丸 (Enmaru)

A friend in the F&B business brought along this award winning izakaya from Japan. Winner of the 5th Izakaya Koshien (居酒屋甲子園) back in 2010, the version brought along into town is more a posh and extended one of its ‘Kyoto Machiya Ryokan’ style found back home. Centre stage is certainly the open sumi fireplace doubled as a grill, as could be found in traditional ryokan and did bring back good old memories. Technically still in soft opening thus plenty might yet have to be done, especially with the ambience and atmosphere of the place. A few of the dishes tried were nevertheless of quality with some creativity on top. Liquor license still not in place as could be expected so do take advantage now to BYOB (as we did with the Zaku!)
