(Okada-mae)

Up close and personal with Okada-san (岡田賢一郎) of ‘Innocent Carvery’ fame, one of the hottest newcomers in this ‘niku kappo’ movement as he strikes out on his own. A slightly over the top line-up and at times ‘dramatic’ presentations aside, … Continue reading

(Torakuro)

Here comes the most anticipated meal of the trip. Ishikawa group joining hands with Imperial hotel snatching a star already this month on its first anniversary, you get the picture. And the friendly 30 years old Takami chef (鷹見将志) who … Continue reading

(Santyokura Taka)

Easily the most memorable meal for this trip. This hidden joint off Shibuya featuring ‘fisherman cuisine’ basically serves 10 courses of ‘catch-of-the-day’ and pairs each with a different premium sake. Amazing value for money too!

(Manten-sushi)

Best value for money sushi revisited. 16 courses besides freebies and counting. Not for the snobs but yours truly was again very satisfied.

The dandan trail resumed with a trip all the way to Nakano to try out this rising star of late, surpassing a 3.7 in Tabelog rating and making it one of the best ‘pure plays’ in Tokyo. Owner Chef Yoshizawa-san … Continue reading

(Toka Ryoran)

Intrigued by its rather fancy name for long and finally made it here. Pretty much completing my Tokyo dandan trail for now as well. Highlight is the ‘Kyo-sansho’ used to bring along the ‘shibi’ which, together with the relatively more … Continue reading
